The Mediterranean light adds to the ambiance as it filters across the wide balconies. The rooms are brightly decorated and furnished in a rustic style with natural elements. All rooms have King-size beds (180 x 200 cm) to ensure that our guests get a good night's rest.
Maria and Josep, the owners, are enthusiastic hosts and will be very happy to help you plan your days in the area. Maria, along with her sister Dolors and daughter Sara, take care of the house and surrounding area; working in the garden, going shopping, making breakfasts and dinners. Josep does the agricultural work. And Xicu is El Moli pet.
Food & Drink: El Moli takes their cooking very seriously and we sampled several authentic Catalan dinner dishes cooked by Maria, her sister Dolores and her daughter.
Using produce from the own Hotel vegetable gardens they prepare the freshest of ingredients for use in his inventive menus, with special emphasis on promoting local dishes and local wines.
The breakfasts are fabulous and include organic eggs, home made jams and cakes, sauces, cheese, cereals, fresh fruits, toast, coffee and tea. In addition to all of this, the owners are environmentally conscious.
El Moli de Siurana offer Catalan cuisine, with homemade products (such as marmalade, cakes, cottage cheese), organic eggs, cows milk from the nearest cooperative, and local wine. From the dining room you can enjoy a beautiful view over the garden, where there are more than twenty five different species of trees and many types of birds.
From the large dining and living room enjoy a beautiful view over the 10,000 square metres of garden with more than 25 different species of trees such as birch, eucalyptus, almond, oaks, carob and different types of acacias providing good shade in summer.
There is also a wide variety of birds, including swallows, bee-eaters, hoopoes, nightingales, Montagu’s harriers and the long-eared owl, whose night-time call reminds us that it is time to go to sleep.
Beside the garden is a brook that runs between evergreen oaks and, at the back, a more out-of-the-way area where visitors can enjoy loungers and sunbathe while listening to the song of the birds. Further on, there are woods, cultivated fields and rural paths to take be discovered.
Around El Moli there is a running brook with clean water that feeds into the landscape. Surrounded by woodland, and by meadows of alfalfa and wheat, this rural retreat, guarantees the utmost tranquillity and peace to its guests, only disturbed for the beautiful sound of birds.
Siurana (500 metres from El Moli) is a small farming village of some 140 inhabitants. From its highest point there is a view down over the sea — the nearest beaches being in Sant Pere Pescador and Sant Marti d’Empuries — as well as of the Canig mountain to the northeast.
El Moli is a fantastic location from which to visit the ancient Greek and Roman ruins at Empuries (amazing), the Dali Museum in Figueres (not to be missed), Dali's home in Port Lligat, the ancient Romanesque monastery of St. Pere de Rodes and the fabulous natural scenery of the Costa Brava.
